How to organize a surprise drive by party!!

With the the cancelation of most things we normally do to celebration milestones, it is more important than ever to find ways to celebrate important moments.

Under normal circumstances, celebrations are done by socializing with family and friends during a dinner, outing, parties, kissing, hugging, playing, and all the non-social-distancing activities that are now considered taboo by many to prevent the spread of the corona virus. So how can you organize a surprise celebration under these circumstances?

Organize a drive by surprise party celebration!

Make it extra special by surprising the person with faces they probably haven't seen in person for months due to the pandemic. It may sounds like a lot of work but its actually simpler than it looks. Below are the steps to take:

1. Pick a few days and time that the special person will be home

2. Get contacts of close friends and family members

3. Inform contacts of your plans to drive by person's house to celebrate safely and ask for availability during the selected dates and times.

4. Make plans on how to get the special person outside at the exact time.

5. Announce plans to attendees with details on where to park, exact time to arrive at parking location near by.

6. Discuss basic rules for celebration with attendees either individually or through a zoom conference. Sending some attendees written reminders of do's and don'ts will also be helpful in some circumstances.

7. Encourage members to create decorations, on their cars, create signs, and other ways to cheer the special person during the drive by. However, discourage or ban things that will create disturbing noise for the person's neighbors.

8. On the day or event, make sure everyone arrives on time to the scheduled starting location. The scheduled time should also allow at least 30min for everyone to arrive and settle before the drive by begins.

9. Designate a location by the house for attendees to drop off gifts if they prefer to give them in person.

10. Pick a leader to begin the parade and a moderate to monitor to end the parade train. The leader should control the pace of the parade and slow down drastically when they get close to the house.

The specially person will be delighted to see so many familiar faces and will definitely feel special just from the effort of everyone showing up even if it was for a briefly celebration.
