Gifting for Father's Day

Father's day is now recognized around the world just as much as Mother's day. A day we celebrate fathers around the world as well as welcome new fathers. Since its founding in 1910 in Spokane, WA by Sonora Smart Dodd, it has grown to become a recognized day around the world to celebrate and appreciate what fathers have done for their family in terms of providing, care, and discipline in the household, basically mirroring Mother's day.

Usually falling on the third Sunday of June, this year it falls on June 21, sons, daughters, grandkids, mothers come together to figure out the best gift for man of the house while fathers are also scouting for what to do for their fathers. The ideal gift is always in question for most people as they are not able to identify what to get for their fathers. It will usually be a dinner date at his favorite restaurant, getting a bottle of his favorite liquor, or buying him gardening tools such as lawn mowers etc.

Gifting on fathers day can be tricky since one would like to know what exactly his/her father, or husband might like on a given year. Some have been able to identify what fathers would like and hence get the perfect gift, others are yet to figure out what exactly to get and that could be a conundrum, hence the safest bet is either a gift card or a tie, cuff links, tie holders, belts etc however, these become repetitive and in some cases redundant as fathers end up receiving the same gifts twice or more from different people that they end up returning or not needing at all.

The goal of gifting in this sense is what to do in appreciation of fathers and to give a lasting impression especially for those who are either not able to make it to a family dinner and would like to send a gift that is unique. An avenue where they are able to have a wishlist of whatever they need or interested in that family, friends, acquaintances can have a peek and be able to identify or have an idea of what gift to get.

This will go a long way to help target the gifts and reduce the repetitive or redundant gifts.
